Somatic Therapy Burlingame: Reconnect With Yourself

If you feel stuck, overwhelmed, disconnected, or constantly on edge, your body may be telling you something important. Somatic therapy helps you slow down, notice what is happening within you, and reconnect with yourself through compassionate, body-centered work.

How Somatic Therapy Can Help

Sometimes you understand what is happening in your life but still don’t feel able to change how you respond. Anxiety, depression, stress, trauma, and chronic stress can affect more than your thoughts. They can show up through physical sensations, bodily sensations, the nervous system, chronic tension, exhaustion, or feeling like you are always in survival mode.
Somatic therapy brings attention to the mind-body connection. Rather than focusing only on what you think or say, we can explore what you are experiencing throughout your body.

We May Explore

  • Anxiety, panic, and chronic stress
  • Trauma and complex trauma such as intergenerational trauma and developmental trauma
  • Burnout and emotional exhaustion
  • Chronic pain and chronic tension
  • Grief and loss or complicated grief
  • Life transitions and personal growth
  • Self esteem and your relationship with yourself
  • Feeling stuck in fight, flight, freeze, or fawn responses
My goal is not to force you to revisit painful experiences. Instead, I create space for you to become more aware of yourself, understand your patterns, and discover new ways of responding.

What Happens In Somatic Therapy?

Somatic therapy is a form of body-centered therapy that recognizes the connection between emotional experiences and the body. Our work may include conversation, awareness of physical sensations, movement, mindfulness, breath work, co-regulation, meditation, and other mindfulness practices.

You Stay In Control

We move at a pace that feels manageable for you. You may notice breathing patterns, muscle tension, emotions, or other bodily sensations as we talk. Together, we can become curious about those experiences without judgment.
Depending on your needs, I may draw from approaches informed by Somatic Experiencing, somatic experiencing therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), also known as IFS, mindfulness, and other evidence-based practices.
This is not about doing everything at once. It is about finding what helps you feel more present, connected, and able to move between rest and flow rather than remaining caught in survival mode.

Somatic Therapy For Adults

I work with adults navigating experiences that can leave you feeling disconnected from yourself or unsure of what comes next.
Somatic therapy may be helpful when you are dealing with:
  • Anxiety, depression, or ongoing stress
  • Trauma, including post-traumatic stress disorder
  • Complex trauma or social/historical trauma
  • Burnout and chronic stress
  • Chronic pain or persistent physical tension
  • Relationship patterns and emotional challenges
  • Grief and loss
  • Major life transitions
  • Questions around identity, self-esteem, or personal growth
You do not need to have a diagnosis or know exactly what is wrong to begin exploring your experience.

My Approach To Somatic Therapy

I believe therapy works best when there is mutual trust. You should feel heard, respected, and able to bring your whole self into the room.
My approach combines reflection with practical tools. Somatic psychotherapy can include body-based healing, mindfulness, movement, breathwork, and other approaches that help you become more aware of what is happening within you.
I also offer trauma-informed therapy, which means we pay attention to your history, your needs, and your sense of safety throughout our work.
For me, holistic healing does not mean ignoring the mind or focusing only on the body. It means making room for the whole person.

Is Somatic Therapy Right For You?

You may find this approach helpful if:
